Procedure Builder

  • Users with a valid Builder Seat (see below) can access the new Procedure Builder in the PC application accessed from the settings cogwheel of the main menu.
  • A comprehensive description of the Procedure Builder can be found in the User Manual.

Procedures

  • The “Reset” button on the Procedure Panel, now takes the user all the way back to the start procedure screen where the language can be selected.

SynergyXR Manager updates

  • Our web-based content management application previously called “Web Manager” has been renamed to “SynergyXR Manager”
  • Admins can now manage Builder licenses needed to access the Procedure Builder.
    • Each organization has a pool of seats that can be assigned to users
    • Builder Seats are considered personal seats, and not a floating license. Please reach out to SynergyXR sales if you need additional Seats.
    • Under “Users” there is a new “Builder Seats” button which takes the Admin to the Builder Management UI
    • A user (Author or Admin) can get a Builder seat in the context of a Workspace – giving the user access to the Procedure Builder in that particular Workspace
    • In the Builder Management menu, Admins can assign and revoke Builder Seats. Admins can also see seats assigned to other Workspaces in the same Organization. If the Admin also has Admin rights in these other Workspaces, it is possible to revoke Seats directly from the Builder Management menu without switching Workspace.
  • Authors and Admins can now manage Procedures under the Content tab
    • It is possible to filter content only showing Procedures
    • It is possible to rename a Procedure
    • It is possible to delete a Procedure

UI re-work

  • The entire UI has been re-built using a lighter more vibrant color scheme better matching the visual identity of SynergyXR
  • All UI elements are aligned in look and feel
  • All icons have been updated to more clearly convey what buttons does
  • The app icons has also been updated to being a black logo on a white background to match the general visual identity

AR spatial persistence

  • The existing AR spatial persistence technology we used in 2.8.1 and earlier (Azure Spatial Anchors) will unfortunately reach its end-of-life November 2024
  • In SynergyXR 3.0 we introduce a new underlying technology – Apple’s AR World Maps
    • Unfortunately, there is no migration path from existing AR Spaces made in SynergyXR 2.8.1 and earlier, so users will have to re-create their AR Spaces in SynergyXR 3.0
    • Users will still be able to load existing AR Spaces and view these in virtual mode
  • Users should expect slightly faster start-up and recognition speed, as well as recognition accuracy
  • It is now possible to dynamically extend the size of the AR Space – even after saving it
    • Hence, we merged the “Quick AR” and “Large AR” since there was no material difference between the functionality any more

Training Spaces

  • Users can now tag Spaces as “Training Space” in the Web Manager
  • In-app users can select the “Training” sub menu to see all tagged training spaces
    • In this sub-menu users can also input their LMS code in case they come from a Learning Management System
  • In the Web Manager, admins can select a new “Recommended Action” for users, which will ensure they start out in this new “Training” sub menu

Auto login

  • When creating a SCORM package for LMS integration, it is now possible to add a username + password to be embedded in the SCORM for automatically logging in on PC.
  • This only works for Windows PC, since most will access the LMS from a PC browser.
  • It is recommended that a “generic user” with access to only that one Workspace is used for this, since many end-users will access SynergyXR using this single user identity.
  • It is not allowed to use a generic user with admin privileges due to security concerns
  • Admins are prompted with these restrictions and recommendations when creating the SCORM package

Various minor improvements

  • On application start-up, we provide users with an error page summarizing any mandatory online services that are currently not accessible. This is done to provide better and more concise information to the user as soon as possible.
  • All audio sources (built into the Environment and any video auto-playing) is muted until the user has fully entered the Space. This is done to avoid audio playing during loading of Spaces.
