SynergyXR 3.4: Smarter Training, Smoother Workflows
Empower your team with smarter assessment tools, guided user movement, and a more intuitive Procedure Builder. SynergyXR 3.4 brings meaningful improvements designed to elevate training quality, reduce friction, and help you build better immersive experiences – faster.
Multiple choice questions
You can only manage what you measure – and now you can measure more. SynergyXR 3.4 introduces multiple choice questions directly within the Procedure Builder, giving training managers a seamless way to assess how well employees understand what they’ve learned and track progress over time.
All question results flow automatically into the Learning Record Store in SynergyXR Manager, enabling a consolidated overview of training performance across users and helping teams evaluate the true impact of their learning programs.
Move users
Some learners prefer a more guided, “on-rails” experience without having to navigate the virtual environment manually. With the new Move users action in the Procedure Builder, you can now automatically and gracefully teleport users around a Space.
Use it to support new or inexperienced users, streamline complex training flows, or ensure participants reach difficult or critical locations effortlessly.
Object selection
Some learners prefer a more guided, “on-rails” experience without having to navigate the virtual environment manually. One of the most requested enhancements is now here: direct object selection in the 3D scene. Instead of relying solely on the objects list, creators can now interact with and select objects visually within the Space.
This improvement boosts both speed and precision, making it easier than ever to build detailed, high-quality Procedures.

New Operation: Question
- In the Procedure Builder, Builders can now use a new Operation called “Question”
- This allows the Builder to define a question, with multiple answer options – where multiple answers can be correct
- Audio clips of the questions are automatically generated and read out loud to the user
- For each answer option, the Builder can define a custom feedback message to the Trainee in case that answer option is selected
- For each question, the Builder can define where in the Procedure the UI panel is shown (position and rotation)
- In the Misc tab, Builders can define if the sound for correct/wrong answer should be played; If the answer options should be shuffled to add randomization to the answer option; and if feedback should be given to the Trainee or not.
- When completing a training containing one or more Question Operations, the Trainee is given a summary of how well he/she did in the format: “You answered X out of Y questions – Z correct.”
- Data on how well the Trainee did on the questions are also sent to the SynergyXR Learning Record Store, allowing Admins to see it in SynergyXR Manager. In addition to the overview provided, additional details are added to the CSV export, including which questions were answered wrong, and which wrong answer option were used.
New Action: Move users
- In the Procedure Builder, Builders can now use a new Action called “Move users”
- This allows Builders to automatically move users around the virtual Space as they complete Steps – without requiring the users to maneuver manually
- Builders can define a position and rotation for users to be moved to
- When users are moved, their view is briefly faded to back to avoid any uncomfortable side effects
- In case of multiple users in the same Procedure, all users are moved to the defined position when the Action is executed. The user who performed the Operation will be moved to the exact defined position, while all other users are placed in a semi-circle behind this user.
Fade when skipping Steps in a Procedure
- Skipping a Step (especially going to previous Step) was not the smoothest user experience, forcing the user to see a lot of Steps being auto completed in quick succession.
- Every time a user skips a Step (using previous or next Step) or fast-forwards to a particular Step (using the drop-down on the Procedure Panel) the user’s view is briefly faded to black – the same experience when the Move users Actions is executed.
Procedure builder – object selection in the 3d scene
- You can now select objects directly in the 3d scene instead of only in the Objects list.
- When clicking on an object in the 3d scene, it is briefly highlighted in the Object list making it easily identifiable.
- By clicking multiple times, a user can select child objects in the same model, or even select objects hidden behind other objects in the 3D scene.
- When in the “Content” tab, clicking in the 3D scene selects the corresponding instance of the model in the content list, and a 3D gizmo is automatically activated allowing the user to adjust the position of the instance.
- When configuring content, individual colliders are selected when clicking in the 3D scene, and a 3D gizmo is automatically activated allowing the user to adjust the size and position of the collider.
Procedure builder – improved menu control
- Builders can now collapse and expand lists and menu items in the Procedure Builder by clicking the title, instead of only the small arrow.
- When folding out a collapsed Step, all child elements are also collapsed, except the Operations and Actions Before and After lists which are kept expanded to create a quick overview of the main content of the Step.
- Builders can now drag Steps around without them unfolding.
- Builders can now copy/paste collapsed Steps, resulting in the new Step also being collapsed.
- When pasting copied or cut Steps, they will now correctly appear under the selected element.
Procedure Builder – various improvements
- Changed “Save to Space” to “Publish”
- Added a button during play test mode in the top left corner to reset the user position to the spawn position
- Moved the “Play procedure from start” button next to the undo/redo buttons to make it more accessible. The “Stop playback” button is placed the same place.
- GLB models with Vertex Colors and models without Materials are now supported both in SynergyXR Manager and in the Procedure Builder.
Environment Builder improvements
- If using 3D models with several LODs (level of detail) the performance report now correctly analyzes these instead of simply adding all LOD meshes. This ensures more accurate representation of expected performance using the Environment with LODs.
- A small bug related to an erroneous rotation in the thumbnail spawn point has been corrected.
Single instance on Windows PC
- To avoid confusion with multiple instances of the Windows PC application being launched, we now ensure only a single instance can run at a time.
- If trying to start a new instance, Windows will instead focus the already running instance.
Removed option to edit content in Space from Procedure Builder
- Before, users could move, delete, duplicate etc. content in a Space while editing a Procedure in the Procedure Builder
- To avoid user confusion, we have made a distinct separation, only allowing users to add content to the Space in a normal Session (as before) and only allowing users to edit the content within a Procedure in the Procedure Builder.
- In addition, we no longer overwrite any Space state when saving a Procedure to Space within the Procedure Builder. This means that if a Space was saved with the Procedure in the language selection menu, this state will not be overwritten from within the Procedure Builder forcing users to manually correct this afterwards.
VR wrist menu improvements
- We made the buttons easier to interact with – the buttons are now pressable when entered from the side but do not trigger on first press directly
- The size of the buttons has been reduced slightly, and the depth of the buttons has been reduced making them easier to directly press
Scenarios discontinued
- At SynergyXR, we continuously evolve the platform by introducing new features that better meet the needs of our users. As part of this process, certain features become redundant when replaced by more powerful alternatives. This is the case for Scenarios, which are now fully covered (and improved upon) by Procedures.
- To ensure we maintain focus on the features that deliver the most value, we occasionally retire functionality that no longer adds benefit. This helps us reduce complexity for users while ensuring our team can dedicate resources to building and enhancing the tools that matter most.
Support for HTC stand-alone VR headsets discontinued
- We aim at making SynergyXR available on all relevant XR capable devices.
- We see that less than 1% of sessions on the platform are done on VR devices from HTC.
- This usage does not justify continued development, support and maintenance, so we are discontinuing the support for VR devices from HTC.
